Give you or your staff the added skills to do your job better. Having a deeper understanding of medical coding and earning a credential to prove it will facilitate effective communication between you and the providers as well as enhancing peer-to-peer communications on coding topics. Perhaps you are seeking a promotion or are just entering the job field - having a coding credential will help you land that job!
Under the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) CMS requires offices to employ certified coders. You can be prepared by taking one of our courses and sitting for the CPC-P board exam. We will guide you every step of the way!
The Certified Professional Coder-Payer (CPC-P) credential offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (the Academy) certifies that the successful candidate has the knowledge and skills to adjudicate provider claims effectively. The CPC-P demonstrates the payer coder’s aptitude, proficiency and knowledge within the payer environment. The Academy is the first organization to offer a certification exam that recognizes the coders in the payer community.
The CPC-P board exam will evaluate the payer coders knowledge of:
- Medical Terminology
- Human Anatomy
- Coding Manuals (CPT, ICD-9-CM, HCPCS)
- Understanding payment systems (DRG, APC, RBRVS)
- Competency in code combination concepts (CCI, Medical Necessity)
- Understanding of coding rules and guidelines
- Understanding of insurance terminology, business practices and payment standards
The CDNG 301 - Physician/Outpatient Based Medical Coding course offered by the CRN Institute prepares you for the CPC-P board exam.
