MBR 101 - Medical Billing & Reimbursement
Program Description:
The AAPC has prepared a definitive entry-level program of study that is aimed at providing the most up-to-date information relating to Medical Terminology & Anatomy, Medicare and 3rd Party Billing, CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9-CM procedural and diagnostic coding.
Needs Assessment:
This material was developed in order to help billers/coders and other medical professionals to better understand the rapidly changing medical coding and billing environment and to prepare for the “Medical Coding – For Certification” course also offered by A+ Medical Management & Education. According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics "Medical assistants is expected to be on of the fastest growing occupations through the year 2010" [more details...]
Occupational Competencies:
Upon completion of course the student will be prepared to enter a career as a medical coder (entry level) or will have enhanced their knowledge of their existing position as a medical coder.
Facilities Required:
The class size is limited to no more than 20 students at a time for effective learning. The classes are provided via a national teleconference line.
Instructional Strategies:
Students will be instructed with Power Point slides, overheads, white board illustrations and with computerized modules. In addition students will have access to a private internet website that will contain are area to submit homework assignments, view supplemental handouts and extra credit exercises and quizzes.
Evaluation Techniques:
Students will be evaluated with weekly quizzes, essay assignments and with unit exams.
